Describe the failure precisely. “Engine dead” could mean the panel is dark, the starter does not turn, it cranks but does not fire, or it starts and stops. Each points to a different branch — the more precise your description, the faster the answer.

What to include
- Boat, engine and drive — e.g. 38 ft cat, twin 29 hp saildrives, 2011
- Engine hours and the date of the last service
- Exactly what happens: alarms, gauge values, smoke colour, sound, rpm
- What changed recently — fuel, filters, wiring, haul-out, lay-up
- Sea conditions and load at the time of the fault
